Chelsea Spear
Adapted Physical Educator

Chelsea Spear is the Health and Adapted Physical Education (APE) teacher at the Shriver Program.  She completed her undergraduate degree in Health and Physical Education at George Mason University.  During her time at GMU she had the opportunity to work with students who have special needs.  She very quickly realized how much she enjoys teaching this population and furthered her education at the University of Virginia where she graduated with a Master’s degree in Kinesiology for Individuals with Disabilities.

This year in adapted physical education, she will be encouraging the students to participate in ways that promote their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development while maximizing their current abilities. It is Chelsea’s goal to teach the students the necessary skills to be as physically active as possible in their daily lives.  Like in previous years, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to swim at the Washington Liberty Aquatic Center on Thursdays.
